From the Inside Flap
The major problems in understanding Pathology are its hard- to- recognize basics
and terms, the variety of morphologic presentations of a single disease, the
complex interconnections between Pathology and other clinical specialities,
in addition to, jumbled study sources. Pathology atlases and textbooks provide
facts, observations, or research studies related to disease morphology, but
they do not provide the state-of-art methodology of how to reach the diagnosis
or what are the required skills to dissect, to report, or to diagnose certain
disease. The inaccuracy in using terms in our lives has been extended to Pathology
textbooks. This can be exemplified by the use of the word "moment"
in our daily life, although we have stated that minutes or seconds are the time
units. This is why you would find non-scientific descriptive or non-quantitative
words as slightly larger, less hyperchromatic...etc in Pathology textbooks without
signifying the denominator of these terms.
This book attempts to crossover the compact textbooks by making casts for thinking
in Pathology aiming to construct an independent pathologist's opinion and interpretation.
The book teaches how could you reach the final diagnosis through a logic approach,
how to assemble a database, when to summarise and when to expand a subject and
how to be a perfect researcher and lecturer. The book highlights the practical
tricks, mnemonics, key facts, differential diagnostic tips and many other guidelines
to make Pathology a fun. The book is crucial for those who plan to enter an
exam, to augment their competence level or to be always stand-by for a challenge
at the trainee or consultant levels.
The book is not intended to include everything in Pathology, but to open an access for a better correlation and framing of Pathology topics and to organize the learning priorities. I believe that "working smarter is better than working harder".
"The Skilful Pathologist: Pathology Concepts in Histopathology Diagnosis, Interviews & Exams" is a must-have book for Pathology trainees, consultants, demonstrators and lecturers in addition to researchers.
